Il Transilvano (Diruta, Girolamo)
Nothing is known of him afterwhen he dedicated the second part of his treatise Il transilvano to Leonora Orsini of the house of Sforza, niece of Grand Duke Ferdinand I of Tuscany, a Borgia. Merulo mentioned Diruta in a prefatory letter to the Transilvanoas one of his finest students.
Unlike Fux, he defines a less-rigorous kind of counterpoint that was adequate for improvisation; for example it neither requires contrary trannsilvano nor prohibits successive perfect consonances. He was famous as a teacher, for his treatise Il Transilvano Venice, 1st part rransilvano 2nd part  on counterpointand for tranilvano part in the development of keyboard technique, particularly on the organ.
