Book ratings by Goodreads. The section on ancient Rome set off all my History Professor alarms but, hey, it’s just a novel.

How on earth I managed to struggle on to the end I have no idea as it is absolutely awful and filled with ‘New Age’ drivel. Mar 01, Karen rated it did not like it Recommends it for: Neville worked hard on this massive book.

Apr 06, Fay C Page rated it it was ok. The structure of the book is very odd and feels slightly amateurish.

Feb 22, Brian rated it it was ok. In “The Eight,” it was the pieces of the chess set, and the rich history, that was interesting. Random historical names were popping up like daisies, with some vague connection to the story.

That was a doozy. As soon as the manuscripts are in their hands, Ariel becomes the target of those who covet his power. Generic, unintresting heroine that somehow managed to be extremely talented, clever and beautiful as described by the book despite her lack One of the most tiring books I have ever read.

I can read just about anything, but I could NOT get into this book. Tiberius passes this knowledge to Caligula, Claudius, and finally Nero – all of who try to decipher the mystery to no avail.

When her cousin is slain by an unknown assassin, Ariel Behn becomes the sole heir to a family legacy: The back of the book made me expect a Da Vinci Code style thriller, with historical conspiracies and treasure hunts for secret knowledge. Paperbackpages. This book is the Platonic form of bad. I guess what made me look over the amazing riddles and mysteries that had to be solved was the fact that, after some point,I grew tired of Ariel’s mistake to keep falling in bed with a traitor.

Not sure how anyone could listen to this one and keep up. Jerusalem, 32 AD–During the last week in the life of Christ, as the world stands on the brink of a new two-thousand-year cycle, Emperor Tiberius works desperately to decipher the tantalizing clues to an age-old enigma.

It gets old, fast. Plot threads fall by the wayside or are given very short shrift Ariel spends two weeks in the Nevillle, for example, apparently doing some sort of work project, but it isn’t important to the main plot and mostly exists as a McGuffin to get Ariel to Vienna and Paris in her travels, so there are five pages or less devoted to the trip itself and magioc joint project with the USSR. It is appalling bad. Visit our Beautiful Books page and find lovely books for kids, photography lovers and more.

I remember the plot sounded so intriguing on the cover but I was a bit let down by how e story unfolded. Add that to the awful, incestuous romances and weird rationalizations for the Holocaust and you’re left with a terrible read. Sinceramente no se porque lo intente de nuevo con esta autora, se enrolla muchisimo y un libro que empieza de una forma interesante se convierte en un rollo interminable Generic, unintresting heroine that somehow managed to be extremely talented, clever and beautiful as described by the book despite her lack of character.

I slogged through thinking things would somehow tie together at the end, but all I was left with was a thrown together “conclusion” that was completely unsatisfying. Still, when the main character falls in love at first sight with some Eurotrash Lothario that appears at her work, and he is described as having “the Macedonian profile that one associates with heroes,” I had to toss the book aside and mourn the brief time I had lost to swallowing the first fifty pages of this drivel.

The Magic Circle – NR Kathleen Neville – 3rd book Snake River, Idaho, Ariel Behn, a toxic materials expert at a remote nuclear site, finds her well-ordered life shattered when her cousin is slain by an unknown assassin. All of which, in the end, results in exactly nothing. There is tension which makes me want to find out what happens but some of the plot seems a little too dramatic, a bit too thick to neviloe me reading.

I wanted to like this book, and while I was not expecting literary genius, this was just bad.

In an attempt to unite all of these philosophies, Ms. I really ep to get into this book but it had two flaws that kept me from ploughing through no matter what. Mar 25, Debbie rated it did not like it Shelves: As good as The Eight.
